Cécile and Marie-Grace came out in 2011. Before the dolls officially came out, American Girl did a special pre-order. When the dolls finally did came out, American Girl did special events at their retail stores and American Girl came out with a song to celebrate the two dolls release. A couple of months before the Historical Characters relaunch, called BeForever, American Girl announced the retirement of the two dolls along with Ruthie Smittens and Ivy Ling. The reason for the retirement is rumored to be that the two dolls didn't sale very well. The two dolls were officially retired in 2015. Currently, Cécile and Marie-Grace are not available to purchase by American Girl.
