WELLIEWISHERS

In the summer of 2016, American Girl launched the WellieWishers line. The WellieWishers replaced the Bitty Twins and was announced during a Mattel Investor Meeting. The line is named after Wellington rubber boots that was popular in the United Kingdom. The line is geared towards elementary-aged children who are too young for 18 inch dolls, but too old for bitty baby dolls. In the same summer of 2016, American Girl partnered with Toys R Us, Kohl's, and Barnes and Noble to sell all of the dolls with selected outfits and accessories. American Girl even made exclusive outfits that was only sold at those stores. The only store that still sells the WellieWishers and items is Barnes and Noble today.
In 2021, American Girl rebranded the line with new meet outfits, redesigned accessories, and logo.
In 2022, American Girl released Bryant which was the first character added and the first boy character. The rebrand also continued on by the redesigning of new items and retheming of the WellieWishers section in certain American Girl stores.
