In 2003, American Girl released Hopscotch Hill! This line was aimed towards four to six year old kids and focused on an early elementary school classroom. American Girl first released Hallie, Logan, and Skylar with two outfits and a few furniture pieces. In 2004, American Girl expanded the line to include Gwen, more outfits, and more furniture pieces. American Girl also released books over the years when the line was available. Books were sold with each doll and separately. Each book has a "Dear Parents" section with activities that were created by teachers and child development specialists. In 2006, American Girl retired the line. The reason for the line being retired is unknown.
Like previous American Girl dolls, this line was focused and led by the books. American Girl actually released books based on different characters that never ended up in doll form.
Unlike 18-inch and 15-inch American Girl dolls, these dolls were 16 inches tall and were made of vinyl with plastic ball jointed knees and elbows. Dolls had painted eyes and wigged hair.
