Girl of the Year of 2017

On January 1st, 2017 American Girl released Gabriela McBride as the first Black Girl of the Year Character. For Gabriela's release, American Girl celebrated it with in-store events and with fun videos on their YouTube Channel. Unlike Girl of the Year dolls, Gabriela wasn't retired until 2019 and was a Truly Me Doll before she become a Girl of the Year doll. Gabriela is Truly Doll #46. In Summer of 2016, American Girl retired Truly Me Doll #46. Then rereleased #46 as Gabriela. For customers that purchased #46 before 2017, American Girl made Gabriela's Meet Outfit able to purchase separately up until March 31st of 2017. Gabriela is not available for purchase from American Girl today.
