In 2003, American Girl released the second Girl of The Year doll. Unlike other Girl of The Year dolls, Kailey was released in July of 2003 and retired in July of 2004. Kailey is not able to purchase from American Girl today.

"Sporty Kailey loves living by the sea. When a new development threatens her favorite beach and the creatures living there, Kailey works to save the shoreline. She learns that a person is never too young, or too old, to speak out for what they believe in" (American Girl Character Encyclopedia 50).
