In 2002, American Girl released Kaya. Out of all of the Historical Characters, Kaya took the longest to develop. Instead of the regular three years, it took to develop historical characters, it took five to six years for Kaya to develop. In American Girl's Ultimate Guide, American Girl talks about the development of Kaya. Kaya is available to purchase from American Girl today.
