Marisol Luna is the third doll American Girl released in the Girl of the Year, GOTY, line. Despite Marisol being the GOTY of 2005, Marisol was actually released at the end of December in 2004. Marisol was retired in December of 2005 with her collection selling out right before Christmas. Marisol is not able to purchase from American Girl today.

"Marisol loves to dance! So when her parents decide to move to the suburbs of Chicago, she is sad to find that her new neighborhood doesn't have a dance studio. With the help of new friends, Marisol persuades a local dancer to start teaching dance classes" (American Girl Character Encyclopedia 52).
