In 1991, Felicity was released! Felicity was the fourth doll to be released and the first to not have bangs. When Kaya was released in 2002, Felicity was taken out of the catalogs and moved to being only an online-exclusive. Several things from her collection were retired during this time. However in 2005, Felicity and her collection were revamped because of the release of Felicity's movie. Sadly in 2010, American Girl announced the retirement of Felicity's and Elizabeth's collection. They were officially retired in 2011.

In February of 2017, American Girl re-released Felicity as the first doll to be released as cubed. Not only did American Girl release Felicity, but they also came out with a new revamped version of Felicity's Meet Accessories and Felicity's Undergarments. In 2019, American Girl silently retired Felicity and they items they had out for her. Instead of making an announcement to customers about the archival, American Girl confirmed in a comment on Facebook that Felicity had been retired.

In May of 2021, American Girl released Felicity as a part of their 35th-anniversary collection. Within two weeks of the release, Felicity went to being back-ordered for months. On June 30th, 2021 Felicity turned from being back-ordered until the middle of October to being sold out. Later in 2021, American Girl partnered with Carly Cushnie. As a part of this partnership, American Girl rereleased Felicity again, but as a modern doll. Currently, Felicity is not available to purchase from American Girl.
