In 2009, American Girl released Gwen Thompson as a companion doll to Chrissa Maxwell. She is considered to be a part of the Girl of the Year and a part of Chrissa's Collection. This was the first time American Girl released a friend doll to the Girl of the Year. American Girl also Sonali Matthews as the other companion doll to Chrissa Maxwell.
