In 1993, Addy Walker became the fifth doll to be released in the Historical Character line. Addy debuted with a new face mold that wasn't used before. Not only did Addy have a new face mold, but Addy was also American Girl's first doll of color!

In 2014 as part of the BeForever launch, Addy received updated and new clothes, accessories, and more! In 2017, American Girl cubed Addy with Samantha Parkington.

In May of 2021, American Girl rereleased Addy with her original meet outfit, meet accessories, and meet book as a part of their 35th-annverisary collection. Addy was the second doll out of the six dolls that were rereleased to sell out. Addy sold out on July 2nd, 2021. Later in 2021, American Girl partnered with Carly Cushnie, and Addy was re-released again, but this time as a modern doll.

In May of 2024, American Girl rereleased Addy Walker along with Kirsten Larson and Josefina Montoya. In this rerelease, American Girl brought Addy back in her original meet outfit, accessories, and Pleasant Company book. American Girl also rereleased her birthday outfit with corresponding book.

"Addy is a courageous girl growing up during the Civil War. After she and her mother escape from slavery in the South to start a new life in Philadelphia, she dreams of reuniting with her father, brother, and baby sister. Addy always holds on to her hope for better days ahead" (American Girl Character Encyclopedia 24).

AMERICAN GIRL X CARLY CUSHNIE ADDY

In the Fall of 2021, American Girl partnered with Carly Cushnie. With this partnership, the original six dolls were redesigned into modern dolls. Only one of each doll was made and auctioned off through eBay.
