In 2017, American Girl released Nanea Mitchell as the sixteenth historical character. To celebrate her release, American Girl has different events at their American Girl retail stores. Before her release, American Girl offered Berry and Gold AG Rewards Members the first chance to purchase Nanea along with a couple of pieces from her collection in a bundle. The American Girl stores had the same bundle just for AG Rewards members to purchase as well. Nanea Mitchell is still available to purchase from American Girl today.

"Nanea is a cheerful girl growing up in sunny Hawaii. She loves that the islands are home to people of all kinds. Nanea's Mom is Hawaiian and her Dad moved to Hawaii from Oregon. He works hard as a welder at Pearl Harbor shipyard" (American Girl Character Encyclopedia New Edition 36).
